Angel Sarah McLachlan Spend all your time waiting for that second chance For the break that would make it okay There's always some reason to feel not good enough And it's hard at the end of the day (C) / Dm7 - F - / C Fmaj7 G - / : I need some distraction, a beautiful release Memories seep from my veins Let me be empty, oh and weightless, and maybe I'll find some peace tonight {Refrain} In the arms of the angel, fly away from here From this dark, cold hotel room, and the endlessness that you fear You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie You're in the arms of the angel, may you find some comfort here / C Fmaj7 C Fmaj7 Em - - - / F Fsus4 F - C - G - / 1st / / F Fsus4 F - C - G - C Fmaj7 C - / So tired of this straight line, and everywhere you turn There's vultures and thieves at your back The storm keeps on twisting, you keep on building the lies That you make up for all that you lack It don't make no difference, escaping one last time It's easier to believe In this sweet madness, oh this glorious sadness That brings me to my knees {Refrain} ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Players notes Suggested Use: probably don't try this at a campfire, the pacing and tune both are just hellish. Probably only played with one singer and musical accompanyment, unless you are just THAT awesome Current preferred pick: Fingerstyle, strum, then pluck at strings 2,3 alternately till next chord (normally 2,3,2,3 next chord) The picking is really soft - the idea being to make it just a soft backup like it's always there, even when strumming, just overwhelmed. A fancier picking pattern would be awesome, preferrably getting it to sound like another instrument fading in between the chords. Additinal: This is NOT the original key, it is in fact somewhat lower, it's originally a piano piece of course, but this voicing is almost certainly the best you will find (note Dm7, F, Fmaj7, Fsus4 transitions - very clean, nice walks). Chords: Dm7 - (like a Dm, and a D7'th, duh), 4'th string form of course - we want the delicious open goodness, and the seemless transition to F F - due to the Dm7 a 4'th string voicing sounds much nicer than a 6'th string Fmaj7 - due to the F being 4'th, this should be to, so we need a less common form. It's like 4'th string F, but drop the finger on the 1'st (E) to open. Strum from the 5'th, making this an inversion. As it happens the chord is used as a transition from C, so the open A string sounds really nice, not jarring at all. Fsus4 - Again we want a 4'th string voicing. Just drop the pinky below the ring finger on the left hand (that's the 3'rd fret 3'rd string).
